Jefferson Starship

edge
I discovered this great little theater in St. Charles, IL called the ArcadA. It was originally built in 1926 and is now run by Ron Onesti, going on 10 years of the current reign. I don't know why it took me so long to discover this musical gem that's in such a quaint little town only 2 hours away.

The Opening Act was Brock and Abrams. These are two singer, guitarists. Bobby Abrams, was Lead Guitarist for the Buckinghams and Mike Bruccoleri, was the bassist for Hermans Hermits. I believe he also performed as Wolfman Jack. Their setlist that contained things from: The Guess Who, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, and The Archies,

The Feature Act was Jefferson Starship. Turns out the only original member that's still in the band, Paul Kantner, just had a heart attack and was recovering … The band still gave us a great performance.
Cathy Richardson, their front "man" is a excellent replacement for Grace Slick. And Lead Guitarist, Jude Gold is a great guitarist in his own right and is a replacement for Craig Chaquico.

Their Playlist included such great classics and covers as:
Count on Me
Miracles
Find Your Way Back
White Rabbit
Somebody to Love
Let's Get Together
Volunteers

What a fun place and a great band. I'll be back again.

Polar Bear Plunge

edgeWhat to do on a blustery spring day in the Quad Cities? Jump into a 36 degree lake to raise money for Special Olympics of course!
380 people were registered to do just that! And … as a result … raised $65,500 to boot.
Check out a few of the survivors.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

edgeNiche.com had a great article that called out Davenport, IA as number 3 on the list of "The 10 Best Cities to celebrate St. Patrick's Day." After this great day Saturday I have to whole heartedly agree. What a blast!
The article describes Davenport, IA and the Quad Cities as "the only bi-state St. Patrick's Day Parade in the U.S. followed by a Post Parade Bash filled with Irish revelry".
Indeed it was!
Check out my photos of the parade and some of the revelry that followed.
